Terra Lava was born from the shared vision of three lifelong friends, Kika, Isabel, and Viviana, who combined decades of experience in education, agriculture, and social research to grow coffee the right way. In 2020, they planted a single hectare of coffee trees on their land in Santa Cruz de Turrialba, Costa Rica, at 1,300 meters above sea level, where volcanic minerals and cool mountain air create ideal growing conditions. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness and sun-dried naturally, with harvesting carried out by local single mothers paid fair daily wages to prioritize quality over speed. The result is a deliberately small annual harvest of just one metric ton of beans. Terra Lava is distributed in partnership with the team behind MK Supplements, who apply the same rigorous five-step purity testing protocol, screening for mold, mycotoxins, glyphosate, and other contaminants, to ensure every bag meets the highest standards of clean, honest coffee.
